Due to recent measures implemented by the Government of the Virgin Islands regarding the coronavirus (COVID 19), the BVI Financial Investigation Agency is informing the public that it will be working with reduced staffing in-house, from today, 20th March 2020 through 17th April 2020. This measure is to locally manage the current environment that has been created by the coronavirus pandemic.
The health and safety of our employees and their families is our top priority. Therefore, until further notice, the Agency will utilize virtual and teleconference meeting options and will suspend all in-person meetings.
Additionally, the Agency will limit the need for walk-in traffic to our offices. Where possible, the Agency invites all registered agents to submit suspicious activity reports/transactions via email to firstname.lastname@example.org and all responses to requests for information should be submitted via email to the Director at email@example.com. This system will remain in place through 17th April 2020. The Agency will give priority to urgent requests and will make its best efforts to ensure adequate and timely response to all other requests.
Additionally, all entities supervised by the Agency (namely, non-profit organizations and designated non-financial businesses and professions) are asked to email firstname.lastname@example.org with any queries.
The Agency is committed to meeting our mandate during this period of time but believe these steps are necessary to ensure the safety of our team and others in our local community.
If there are further operational changes as a result of our continued response to the spread of COVID-19, the Agency will issue updates accordingly.
Persons seeking more information may contact the Agency at 1 (284) 494-1335 or via email at email@example.com.
