The Financial Investigation Agency fulfills FATF Recommendation 29 as it serves the core functions of a financial intelligence unit in the Territory of the Virgin Islands as defined by the Egmont Group. The Financial Intelligence Unit (“the FIU”) is the department within the Financial Investigation Agency, which is responsible for analysis, intelligence-gathering, disseminations of SARs to the Police Financial Crime Unit (“FCU”) and foreign FIUs where appropriate and performing the function of processing Mutual Legal Assistance Requests when requested by the Attorney General.
